With everything out of the way, let’s have a look at why won’t chrome open and how to fix it.

In the case that something goes wrong, make a restore point.

Method 1: Try Restarting your PC then Chrome

Restarting your computer and reopening Chrome is the quickest and easiest way to fix the problem. Using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Shift+Esc, open Task Manager and look for Chrome.exe. From there, pick End Task from the context menu of the right-clicked window. Attempt to fix the problem by relaunching Google Chrome after confirming that close is not executing.

Method 2: Temporarily disable Antivirus and Firewall

    1. Right-click the Antivirus Program icon in the system tray and choose Disable.
    2. After that, define how long the Antivirus will be turned off for.
    3. Choose the smallest possible duration, such as 15 or 30 minutes.
    4. Reopen Chrome and check to see whether the problem still occurs.
    5. When you press Windows Key + I, you will be sent to the Control Panel.
    6. System and Security will be the next option.
    7. Then, select Windows Firewall.
    8. Right-click Turn Windows Firewall on or off in the window’s left pane.
    9. Restart the computer and select Disable Windows Firewall. Try reopening Chrome to see if you can resolve Chrome Won’t Open or Launch issues.

    2. If Google Chrome isn’t up to date, you’ll notice a “Update” button; click it to get the latest version.

The most recent version of Google Chrome will be installed, which may assist you in resolving the issue of Chrome refusing to launch or open.

Method 4: Use Chrome Cleanup Tool

    Method 5: Run Chrome Canary

Chrome Canary (a future version of Chrome) can be downloaded for testing purposes.

    Method 6: Hard Reset Chrome

Use Task Manager to kill Chrome’s process if it isn’t completely shut off.

    1. Windows Key + R, then enter “%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data” (without the quotes).
    2. Remove the Default folder by moving it to a new location.

    4. Then go to Chrome’s settings by clicking the three dots in the upper right corner.
    5. Go to the bottom of the settings page and select Advanced.
    6. Select the Reset column button at the bottom of the page once more.
    7. To proceed, select the Reset option in the pop-up window that appears.
